Some Examples

Bad Result (with Lost Packets). Example #1

  • Packet Loss occurs when one or more packets of data traveling across a computer network fail to reach their destination.
  • When caused by network problems, lost or dropped packets can result in highly noticeable performance issues or jitter with VoIP and videoconferencing, and will affect all other network software to a degree.

Bad Result (with Lost Packets). Example #2

Packets Sent: 500 | Packets Received: 500 | Packets Lost: 0%.
Minimum Round Trip: 181 ms | Maximum Round Trip: 289 ms | Average Round Trip: 192 ms.

Bad Result (with Latency). Example #1

  • It is the time interval between the request and response in a network.
  • Latency limits total bandwidth in reliable two-way communication systems.  resban08

Bad Result (with Latency). Example #2

Packets Sent: 500 | Packets Received: 500 | Packets Lost: 0%.
Minimum Round Trip: 181 ms | Maximum Round Trip: 289 ms | Average Round Trip: 192 ms.

Good Result (no lost packets & no latency)

Packets Sent: 500 | Packets Received: 500 | Packets Lost: 0%.
